Hun Sen Honors Lao and Indonesian Ambassadors for Strengthening Bilateral Ties
PHNOM PENH, Jan 26, 2026 (KPT) – Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Monday awarded the Sahametrei Royal Order (Grand Cross of Friendship) to the ambassadors of Laos and Indonesia as they concluded their diplomatic missions in Cambodia, recognizing their contributions to bilateral relations.
The honor was conferred on Buakeo Phumvongsay, Ambassador of Laos, and Santo Darmosumarto, Ambassador of Indonesia, during separate farewell courtesy calls.

According to the Senate, the decoration reflects appreciation for the envoys’ efforts in promoting friendship, cooperation and high level exchanges between Cambodia and their respective countries.
Hun Sen praised the growing momentum of ties and the solid cooperation between Cambodia–Laos and Cambodia–Indonesia, noting the ambassadors’ roles in facilitating continued exchanges of visits at various levels.
Senate spokesperson Chea Thyrith said Hun Sen also encouraged both sides to deepen cooperation, particularly in economy, trade and investment, in line with the long standing ties shared among the three nations.
