Hundreds Attend Job Forum in Banteay Meanchey as Firms Offer 2,600 Posts

PHNOM PENH, Jan 25, 2026 (KPT) – Around 700 workers and young people gathered in north-western Cambodia for a job, social security and vocational training forum, where four major companies conducted on-the-spot recruitment interviews.

The event, held on January 24 at Meanchey Park in Serei Saophoan City, Banteay Meanchey province, was organised under the theme “Khmer Helping Khmers Find Jobs and Provide Jobs for Khmers.”

Labour and Vocational Training Minister Heng Sour told participants the forum aimed to connect job seekers directly with employers at the local level. He said the four firms were seeking to recruit about 2,650 workers.

The minister noted that the initiative reduced the time and cost for job seekers who might otherwise travel long distances in search of employment. Some participants were able to apply, interview and secure jobs on the same day, he added.

Heng Sour also briefed attendees on the benefits of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), highlighting healthcare and long-term protection for domestic workers and employees.

He encouraged participants to register for technical and vocational programmes offered by the ministry, including the government’s TVET scheme, which aims to support 1.5 million people.

He urged former migrant workers to consider opportunities within Cambodia, stressing that domestic employment not only provides wages but also social security benefits that ease financial burdens in cases of illness or old age.

Those choosing to work abroad, he said, should seek destinations offering higher pay.
The minister described the forum as a reflection of the principle of “Khmer helping Khmer,” which he said fosters confidence among job seekers in Banteay Meanchey.

Job creation and livelihood support remain top priorities for the Royal Government, Heng Sour added, saying economic stability is vital to tackling broader national challenges.

He called for unity, patience and stronger domestic capacity to boost incomes and sustain long-term development.
