PHNOM PENH, Jan 21, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Indonesia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties during a farewell meeting in Phnom Penh between senior officials.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn on Saturday received a courtesy call from Indonesia’s outgoing ambassador Santo Darmosumarto, who is concluding his diplomatic mission.

Prak Sokhonn praised the ambassador’s role in advancing cooperation and extended congratulations on his next appointment.

Both sides welcomed steady progress in relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties and stressed the importance of maintaining momentum through continued high level exchanges.

Recent visits included Senate President Hun Sen’s trip to Indonesia in May 2025, Defence Minister and President elect Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Cambodia in September 2024, and Prime Minister Hun Manet’s attendance at Prabowo’s inauguration in October.

Officials discussed cooperation in defence, economic relations, education, human resource development and people to people exchanges.

Ambassador Darmosumarto expressed concern over Cambodian communities affected by the recent border conflict and praised government efforts to combat online scams.

He thanked Cambodian institutions for their support, while Prak Sokhonn reaffirmed Cambodia’s readiness to work closely with Indonesia’s next envoy.

Both ASEAN members continue to expand cooperation as part of broader regional integration.
