PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Jan.04,2026) — Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense has banned the use of drones nationwide unless operators receive official authorization.

The order, announced during what the ministry called a “difficult period,” is intended to maintain security, public order and social stability for civilians and members of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

All types of drones are prohibited in both the capital and the provinces without permission from the ministry. The ban will be enforced particularly strictly in border provinces, including Koh Kong, Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear and Pailin.

The ministry warned that anyone operating a drone without authorization will face punishment under Cambodian law.

Responsibility for enforcement has been assigned to the General Headquarters of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, the Air Force Command and the Air Defense Command, working with the Royal Gendarmerie, provincial administrations and local authorities.

The order also authorizes military units to use anti-drone systems when necessary.
Authorities have been instructed to publicize the ban widely and ensure it is implemented strictly and effectively.
