China to Provide Humanitarian Aid to Cambodia for Border Displaced

KUNMING, China (Dec. 29, 2025) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday that China will deliver humanitarian supplies to Cambodia to help resettle people displaced by recent border clashes with Thailand.

Wang, also a member of the Communist Party of China’s Political Bureau, made the remarks in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, during talks with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn.

The meeting followed the signing of a joint statement on a ceasefire, with Cambodian and Thai foreign ministers leading delegations in Yunnan from Dec. 28–29 at Wang’s invitation.

Wang said China has closely followed the tense situation and remains committed to facilitating peace through dialogue. He congratulated both sides on the ceasefire and urged a phased approach to build lasting peace, restore normal interactions, rebuild trust and stabilize relations.

He added that China supports ASEAN’s role in monitoring the truce and stands ready to assist its observation mission. Wang also called on Cambodia to continue protecting Chinese citizens and projects in the country.

Sokhonn praised China’s mediation efforts, noting that shuttle diplomacy by Beijing’s envoy helped secure the ceasefire signed by Cambodian and Thai militaries.

He said Cambodia is committed to working with Thailand to fully implement the agreement and strengthen trust between the two armed forces.

Both sides also reaffirmed progress in building an “all-weather” China–Cambodia partnership, with Phnom Penh pledging adherence to the one-China principle and opposition to “Taiwan independence.”
