Chinese Ministers Arrive for Inaugural “2+2” Strategic Dialogue

PHNOM PENH, April 22, 2026 (KPT) — China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Defence Minister Dong Jun arrived Wednesday to take part in the first “2+2” strategic dialogue with their Cambodian counterparts, officials said.
The ministers landed at Techo International Airport before heading to talks co chaired by Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Defence Minister Tea Seiha.
The new mechanism is intended to provide a platform for discussions on regional and international issues while advancing the countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership.
During the visit, Wang and Dong are also scheduled to meet Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, serving as acting head of state, and Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
The dialogue reflects efforts to deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and expand trade and investment ties.
Observers noted the talks come as the two sides mark the launch of a framework aimed at reinforcing political trust, security cooperation and broader diplomatic engagement.
Wang is also expected to hold separate bilateral meetings with Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet during the trip.
