Cambodia Reports Thai F-16 Strikes in Siem Reap Province

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 15, 2025) — Cambodian authorities said Thai military forces carried out F-16 airstrikes deep inside Cambodian territory Monday, including near refugee camps in Siem Reap province.

Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense, said the strikes targeted multiple civilian and historical sites, including O’ Smach, Khnar Temple, Chob Angkounh village, Tamone Thom Temple, Thma Don, Ta Krabei Temple, Samrong City, An Ses, Tamone Temple and Preah Vihear Temple.

According to Socheata, a Thai F-16 dropped a bomb near O’ Jik Bridge in Srei Snam district at 10:08 a.m. Shelling was also reported in Military Region 5, including Prey Chean, Couk Chey and Phnom Chat. Other areas remained calm.

She rejected Thai claims that Cambodian forces had targeted Thai civilians, saying Cambodian operations were directed solely at military positions. Authorities reported 11 civilians killed and 59 injured in the attacks.

The Cambodian government demanded Thailand cease “all aggressive actions,” stop spreading false information, halt attacks on civilians and infrastructure, and refrain from damaging historical sites.

“Peace can only be achieved through concrete actions, not words,” Socheata said, urging Thailand to demonstrate goodwill. She called on the international community to condemn alleged violations of the ceasefire and hold Thailand accountable, stressing Cambodia’s adherence to international and humanitarian law.

Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement and joint declaration signed Oct. 26, 2025, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his capacity as ASEAN chair. The ministry said Cambodian forces remain engaged in defending the country’s territorial integrity.
