Border Update: Cambodia Reports Continued Thai Attacks in Regions 4 and 5

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 11, 2025) — Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense reported Thursday that Thai forces continued assaults inside Cambodian territory, with artillery shelling, drone strikes and tank movements causing civilian casualties and widespread property damage.

Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, ministry spokesperson, said that in the 4th Military Region, Thai tanks attacked An Ses at 3:05 p.m. on Dec. 10, followed by fighter jets dropping bombs at 4:30 p.m. Between 5:00 p.m. and 8:25 p.m., major assaults struck Mount 677, O’ Phka Sneh, Mount 500, Preah Vihear Temple, Ta Sim and 5 Makara.

On Dec. 11, artillery fire and tank movements targeted Khnar Temple, Thmar Daun, Ta Sim, O Smach and Ta Krabei Temple between 4:40 a.m. and 6:35 a.m. In the 5th Military Region, Thai infantry and drones attacked villages including Chouk Chey, Veal Hat, Thmar Da and O’ Phlok Domrei from the afternoon of Dec. 10 through early morning Dec. 11.

Schools, homes and temples were hit, with continued shelling into Thursday morning. Socheata said the attacks killed at least 10 civilians, including an infant, and injured 60. She reported damage to cultural sites, including Preah Vihear and Ta Krabei temples, both World Heritage sites.

She accused Thailand of repeated violations of international law and urged the international community to condemn the attacks, press for withdrawal of Thai forces, and uphold the Oct. 26 Joint Declaration signed in Kuala Lumpur. Cambodian forces, she said, remain committed to defending territorial integrity while pursuing peaceful dialogue.
