PM Hun Manet Congratulates King Sihamoni on French Academic Honor

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 6, 2025) — Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has congratulated King Norodom Sihamoni on his admission as an associate member of the Academy of Overseas Sciences in Paris, calling the honor a reflection of the monarch’s dedication to Cambodia’s cultural and social development.

In a message issued Dec. 5, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse said they were “delighted” by the recognition, formally conferred on the King a day earlier. The prime minister praised Sihamoni’s “transparent and compassionate” leadership and described the distinction as meaningful for the Cambodian people.

Samdech Thipadei also offered traditional blessings for the King’s long life and continued strength, invoking Cambodia’s royal and spiritual traditions. His statement concluded with respect and gratitude toward the monarch, noting the date in both the Gregorian and Buddhist calendars.

The Royal Palace announced the King’s induction as a milestone for Cambodia’s growing role in international scholarship and cultural diplomacy.

Founded in France, the Academy of Overseas Sciences is a prestigious institution that recognizes contributions to research and global knowledge exchange. King Sihamoni left for Paris on Dec. 1 to attend meetings at the Academy, with his visit scheduled through Dec. 6.
