Five Cambodian Civilians Injured in Border Shooting by Thai Forces
BANTEAY MEANCHEY, Cambodia (Nov.11, 2025) — Thai soldiers reportedly opened fire on Cambodian civilians near the border in Prey Chan village, Ou Beychoan commune, Ou Chrov district, injuring five people, Cambodian Information Minister Neth Pheaktra said Wednesday.
The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. local time and was based on preliminary reports from local authorities. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and officials from both countries have yet to issue formal statements.
The clash follows Thai Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakul’s announcement that Thailand is terminating a peace agreement with Cambodia. According to The Telegraph, Thai forces have mobilized troops, long-range artillery and tanks along the border.
“Peace is over with Cambodia,” Anutin reportedly told local media, marking a sharp escalation in the long-standing border dispute.
Cambodian officials have condemned the incident and called for restraint, while regional observers warn of rising tensions between the two neighbors.
