Cambodia, Thailand Designate Pilot Site for Border Demining
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.01,2025)— Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to launch a pilot humanitarian demining operation along their shared border, the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence said Friday.
The Cambodia–Thailand Joint Coordinating Task Force (JCTF) selected a site in Ou Bei Choan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, opposite Nonmak Moon commune in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province, according to ministry spokeswoman Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata.
She said the decision was made during a JCTF meeting on Oct. 31. The operation will follow Standard Operating Procedures agreed by both sides on Oct. 23.
The Cambodian Mine Action Centre and Thailand Mine Action Centre are scheduled to hold a technical meeting at the site on Nov. 7.
Officials said the demining effort will be conducted with full respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity and mutual understanding.
