BANTEAY MEANCHEY, Cambodia (Oct. 14, 2025) — Residents of Prey Chan village in Ou Beichoan commune, near the Thai-Cambodian border, have reported nightly disturbances for four consecutive nights, according to local authorities.

Villagers, including infants, children and the elderly, said they were subjected to loud and unsettling noises originating from the Thai side of the border in Ou Chrov district. The most recent incident, reported on the night of Oct. 13, included ghostly wails, howling dogs and aggressive barking.

Local officials described the broadcasts as psychological harassment. Thai authorities have not publicly responded to the allegations. Cambodian officials have yet to confirm the source of the noise but said they are monitoring the situation closely.

The Banteay Meanchey provincial administration also reported a border incursion on Oct. 13, when Thai forces allegedly entered Cambodian territory in Prey Chan village and conducted land clearing activities on property belonging to Cambodian civilians, despite a previously agreed ceasefire.

The incursion reportedly began at 10:20 a.m., paused at 11:30 a.m., and resumed until 5 p.m. No significant incidents were reported in nearby Chhouk Chey village.

Provincial officials and local residents reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding Cambodia’s territorial integrity and resolving all disputes peacefully and in accordance with legal principles.
