Thailand Continues Border Encroachment in Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey Province
BANTEAY MEANCHEY, Cambodia (Oct.13, 2025) — Thai military forces are continuing to violate Cambodian sovereignty through unauthorized land clearing in Prey Chan village, Ou Beichoan commune, located along the Thai-Cambodian border in Banteay Meanchey province, local officials said.

On the morning of Oct. 13, a group of armed Thai mixed forces reportedly entered Cambodian territory and began clearing land in a new area near a previously disputed site in the same village. This marks the latest in a series of alleged incursions in recent days, during which Thai forces have cleared farmland traditionally cultivated by Cambodian villagers.
Cambodian officials also accused Thai personnel of broadcasting loud and disturbing noises—including barking dogs, howling, wind sounds and aircraft noises—near Prey Chan and neighboring Chouk Chey village. Residents and officials described the broadcasts as psychological tactics aimed at intimidating civilians living near the border.
The Cambodian government reiterated its commitment to resolving the dispute peacefully under the existing ceasefire agreement, while emphasizing its right to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Government spokesman Pen Bona on Friday condemned the incident as a serious breach of international law and human rights. He called on Thai authorities to halt all acts of encroachment and honor the ceasefire terms, urging compliance with the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding and ASEAN border frameworks.
“The Cambodian government calls on the international community to condemn Thailand’s aggression and take necessary measures to prevent further violations of Cambodia’s sovereignty,” Bona said.
