BANTEAY MEANCHEY, Cambodia (Oct. 10, 2025) — The Interim Observer Team (IOT), led by Malaysia, conducted an on-site inspection Friday afternoon in Prey Chan village, located in O’Beichoan commune, O’Chrov district, where Thai forces allegedly violated Cambodian sovereignty earlier in the day.

According to Cambodian officials, hundreds of Thai troops crossed into Cambodian territory Friday morning, advancing into Prey Chan village with weapons and heavy machinery. The troops reportedly began clearing land and continued operations until around noon.

The alleged incursion occurred in the same location where Thai forces had previously entered, erected tents and stationed military vehicles.

Officials said the Thai military presence was unauthorized and constituted a violation of a bilateral cease-fire agreement. The Cambodian government condemned the move as a serious breach of national sovereignty and called for immediate diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation.

The IOT’s visit is part of its ongoing mission to monitor and report on conditions along the Cambodia-Thailand border following the implementation of the cease-fire. The team’s findings are expected to contribute to broader discussions aimed at de-escalating tensions between the two countries.
