PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct. 3, 2025) — A Malaysian parliamentary delegation has reaffirmed support for the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire and called for sustained peaceful dialogue to resolve the ongoing border conflict.

Led by Senator Datuk Wira Dr. Mohd Hatta bin Md Ramli, the delegation from Malaysia’s Parliamentary Friendship Federation for World Peace met Friday with Khuon Sudary, President of Cambodia’s National Assembly, in Phnom Penh.

Sudary welcomed the delegation and praised its engagement with Cambodian leaders, including Senate President and Acting Head of State Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet. She described the visit as a meaningful step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation.

“The visit reinforces our shared commitment to peace and regional stability,” Sudary said, highlighting the importance of legislative collaboration at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

She also commended Malaysia for hosting the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for mediating the July 28 ceasefire agreement signed in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia’s deployment of an Interim Observer Team to monitor the truce was also acknowledged.

“Cambodia knows the true cost of war,” Sudary said. “We are committed to protecting peace, not only for our people but for the entire ASEAN community.”

Senator Hatta praised Cambodia’s leadership for prioritizing dialogue and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to peace efforts. He also lauded Cambodia’s recent elections as free and transparent, citing the use of voter photos in electoral rolls as a model for other nations.
