Cambodia, Thailand to Hold Joint Police Meeting on Cross-Border Crime Prevention
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.03,2025) — Cambodian and Thai police officials will meet in mid-October to strengthen cooperation in combating cross-border crimes, including cyber fraud and human trafficking, Cambodian authorities said Friday.

The 2nd Meeting on Joint Cooperation in Preventing and Suppressing Cross-Border Crimes is scheduled for Oct. 13 in Battambang province, where Cambodia will host a delegation from the Royal Thai Police, according to the General Commissariat of National Police under Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior.
The meeting will focus on reviewing the current joint action plan and enhancing operational coordination, particularly in addressing technology-driven scams and transnational human trafficking networks, the statement said.
“The upcoming meeting aims to deepen law enforcement cooperation to more effectively address cross-border crime threats that impact both countries,” the statement said.
The meeting follows the cancellation of a previously scheduled session on Sept. 26, which was called off due to the Thai delegation’s inability to attend.
It also builds on commitments made during the first bilateral police meeting held Sept. 16 in Sa Kaeo province, Thailand, and aligns with outcomes from the inaugural Special Meeting of the General Border Committee held Sept. 10 in Koh Kong province, Cambodia.
That meeting emphasized increased security collaboration along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
Cross-border crimes, especially cybercrime and human trafficking, remain top priorities for both countries. Authorities have reported a rise in criminal syndicates exploiting border vulnerabilities and digital platforms to operate across Southeast Asia.
Officials from both sides have stressed the need for real-time information sharing, joint operations and harmonized enforcement strategies to counter these evolving threats.
The Battambang meeting is expected to conclude with renewed commitments and potentially a revised action plan to guide joint operations in the coming months.
