Unified Veterans, Retirees Association to Strengthen Ties With State, Society
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept. 29, 2025) — Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who also serves as president of the Cambodian Veterans Association, emphasized the importance of unifying former soldiers and retirees under a single organization to preserve their connection with the government and society.

Speaking at the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Cambodian Veterans Association, held at the Ministry of Interior, Samdech TechoHun Sen said such unity is essential to honoring those who have dedicated their lives to the nation.
“Veterans and retirees have sacrificed their flesh and blood for the nation and for the protection of future Cambodian generations,” he said. “Bringing them together under one roof is an excellent initiative to ensure they remain connected to the state and to society.”
Samdech Techo announced that the Cambodian Veterans Association will be renamed the Association of Cambodian Veterans and Retirees, a move aimed at expanding its reach and fostering solidarity among both military veterans and civil service retirees.
He said the change reflects the association’s broader mission to unify all who have served the country, whether in uniform or public administration, and to ensure their contributions are recognized and supported.
Samdech Techo also reaffirmed the Cambodian government’s commitment to veterans’ welfare. Under the Cambodian People’s Party, he said, the government has implemented policies to improve veterans’ lives and support families of fallen soldiers.
He concluded by underscoring the symbolic importance of the assembly, calling it a reminder of the sacrifices made by Cambodia’s heroes.
“This assembly is a moment to honor the courage and dedication of those who defended the nation at every stage of its journey. Their sacrifices must never be forgotten,” he said.
