Cambodia, China Reaffirm Strategic Ties in High-Level Talks in Beijing
BEIJING (Sept.17, 2025) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol on Tuesday in Beijing, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to deepening strategic cooperation and accelerating joint development projects.

Wang, also a member of the Communist Party of China’s Political Bureau, said China is ready to work with Cambodia to strengthen high-level exchanges and mutual trust, guided by the strategic consensus of their leaders.
He urged both sides to fast-track implementation of key initiatives, including the “Industrial Development Corridor” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor,” and deliver tangible results. Wang also emphasized the countries’ shared opposition to unilateral sanctions and coercive trade practices.
Chanthol expressed Cambodia’s gratitude for China’s long-standing support and pledged continued cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. He said Cambodia remains committed to building an “all-weather” partnership with China and advancing a shared future in the new era.
The two leaders also discussed tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border. Wang voiced hope for reconciliation and said China is willing to assist if both parties agree. Chanthol welcomed China’s role and reiterated Cambodia’s preference for resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiation.
