PHNOM PENH, March 17, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and South Korea have pledged to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors, as Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet received Kim Chang Yong, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia, for talks in Phnom Penh.

Kim said it was a great honor to serve in Cambodia, a country with a long history and rich culture, and expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of relations since the re establishment of diplomatic ties in 1997.

He noted that relations have been actively strengthened through high level exchanges and cooperation in diverse fields, and announced plans to mark the 30th anniversary of ties in 2027 with a series of commemorative events.

The ambassador reaffirmed Seoul’s commitment to further expand relations, pledging to make every effort to achieve more fruitful outcomes during his mission.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed Kim’s appointment and praised the progress of bilateral cooperation, recalling the elevation of ties to a “strategic partnership” in 2024.

He said the partnership opens broader opportunities in trade, investment, education, defense and security.

Both sides also highlighted effective cooperation between police forces in combating cyber fraud, underscoring the growing scope of collaboration.
