PHNOM PENH, March 23, 2026 (KPT) — Senior officials from Cambodia and Vietnam have reaffirmed unity and cooperation during talks in Ninh Binh Province, highlighting reforms and longstanding ties between the two neighbors.

The meeting on Sunday brought together Samdech Men Sam An, Supreme Advisor to the King and President of the Cambodian National Council, and Tran Huy Tuan, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ninh Binh.

Tran outlined recent administrative reforms, including the merger of Ha Nam, Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces into an expanded Ninh Binh Province in July 2025.

He said the province holds a strategic position along Vietnam’s north–south economic corridor and has strong potential for sustainable growth through natural resources and tourism.

He described Vietnam–Cambodia relations as a “valuable asset” forged through mutual support in times of conflict and development, stressing local authorities’ commitment to strengthening cooperation.

Men Sam An praised Ninh Binh’s progress, calling it a useful example for Cambodia’s own reforms.

She congratulated Vietnam on broader achievements under President To Lam and said both countries would continue efforts to raise awareness among younger generations about the importance of close bilateral ties.
