Cambodia, Russia Reaffirm Cooperation at ASEAN Meeting in Kazan

PHNOM PENH, April 22, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation during talks held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Russia Senior Officials’ Meeting in Kazan, officials said Wednesday.
On April 20, Yeap Samnang, Under Secretary of State at the foreign ministry, met Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko to discuss ways to enhance ties both bilaterally and within the ASEAN Russia framework.
The talks focused on maintaining strong diplomatic engagement and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Officials said the meeting underscored the importance of continued dialogue between ASEAN member states and Russia in promoting regional stability, economic cooperation and diplomatic coordination.
The discussions came in a symbolic year, marking the 70th anniversary of Cambodia Russia diplomatic relations and the 35th anniversary of ASEAN Russia Dialogue Relations.
Both sides noted the significance of these milestones and pledged to continue working together to strengthen ties.
