PHNOM PENH, June 11, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni has sent a message of congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia to mark Russia Day, reaffirming the long-standing ties between the two countries.

In a message dated June 9 and sent from Beijing, the King conveyed his “warmest congratulations and best wishes” to President Putin and the Russian people on the occasion of the national holiday.

Sihamoni said Cambodia valued its friendship with Russia and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to grow.

“The Kingdom of Cambodia appreciates the long-standing friendship between our two countries,” he wrote, adding that cooperation would strengthen mutual understanding and contribute to the well-being of both nations.

The King also extended personal wishes to Putin for good health and well-being, while expressing hopes for peace and prosperity for the Russian people.

Cambodia and Russia maintain diplomatic relations spanning decades, with cooperation in education, trade, tourism and cultural exchanges.

Russia Day, observed annually on June 12, commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic in 1990.

It is marked by ceremonies and celebrations across Russia and at its diplomatic missions worldwide.

King Sihamoni’s message underscores Cambodia’s commitment to maintaining friendly relations with Russia and strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
