PM Hun Manet Heads to Washington for Peace Board Meeting

PHNOM PENH, Feb 16, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has departed for Washington to attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace, part of an official mission running from February 15 to 27, officials said Monday.
The meeting, scheduled for February 19 at the United States Institute of Peace, will formally launch the Board’s mandate under a UN Security Council resolution adopted in November 2025.
The initiative aims to promote peace and support reconstruction efforts in Gaza, while also addressing wider issues of regional and global stability.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet is expected to hold bilateral talks with US officials and international leaders on strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation.
He will later travel to Europe, with stops in Geneva and Brussels for meetings with senior officials and stakeholders.
In January, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet confirmed Cambodia had accepted an invitation from US President Donald J. Trump to join as a founding member of the Board of Peace, citing the country’s longstanding commitment to global peace and its role in UN peacekeeping missions.
