Cambodia’s PM to attend peace board meeting in US, visit Europe

PHNOM PENH, 14 February 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington later this month before travelling to Europe for a series of official engagements, officials said Saturday.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet will lead a high-level delegation to the meeting, scheduled for 19 February at the United States Institute of Peace.

The gathering marks the formal launch of the Board’s mandate under a UN Security Council resolution adopted on 17 November 2025, aimed at promoting peace and supporting reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

Leaders are also expected to discuss wider issues of regional and global stability and development.

During his stay in Washington, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet is expected to hold bilateral talks with US officials and other international leaders to strengthen diplomatic and economic cooperation.

He will then travel to Europe, with stops in Geneva and Brussels, where he is scheduled to meet senior officials and stakeholders to expand partnerships and collaboration.

In January, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet announced that Cambodia had accepted an invitation from US President Donald J. Trump to join as a founding member of the Board of Peace.

He said the decision underscored Cambodia’s commitment to global peace, citing the country’s record of deploying UN peacekeepers to war-affected nations.
