PHNOM PENH, Jan.08,2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Saudi Arabia pledged Thursday to expand cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and education, as officials highlighted plans to strengthen ties through more high-level visits and potential direct flights between the two countries.

National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary said both nations had “considerable potential” for collaboration and urged Saudi Arabia to view Cambodia not only as a bilateral partner

but also within the wider ASEAN framework and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. She described Saudi Arabia as a key gateway between Asia and the Middle East.

Sudary’s remarks came during a farewell meeting with Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Cambodia, Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy, who is concluding his three-year diplomatic mission.

She praised what she called significant progress in bilateral relations during his tenure, citing recent reciprocal visits, including Cambodia’s Senate President Hun Sen’s trip to Saudi Arabia in 2024 and the Saudi Shura Council president’s visit to Cambodia in July 2025.

Dahlwy thanked Sudary for the meeting and reflected on what he described as strong achievements during his posting.

He said Saudi investors are expected to visit Cambodia in 2026 to explore opportunities, including through the Saudi Chamber of Commerce, and pledged to continue promoting bilateral relations even after leaving his post.
