Cambodian NA president congratulates Germany on 35th Unity Day, highlights enduring bilateral ties

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.02, 2025) — Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary has extended heartfelt congratulations to Julia Klöckner, President of the German Bundestag, on the occasion of Germany’s 35th National Day, also known as German Unity Day.

In a formal letter, Sudary conveyed her “warmest congratulations and felicitations” to Klöckner, her colleagues, and the people of Germany, celebrating the historic reunification of the country. She described the anniversary as a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and democratic progress.

Sudary emphasized the steady growth of Cambodia-Germany relations over the past decades, noting significant achievements in trade, investment, education, and people-to-people exchanges. She underscored Germany’s role as one of Cambodia’s key development partners, contributing to sustainable growth and institutional capacity building.

“Regarding our parliamentary cooperation, we have seen growing collaboration through bilateral exchanges and multilateral platforms,” Sudary wrote. “I am confident that these existing ties will continue to expand and deepen, bringing concrete benefits to our two countries and peoples.”

She also reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and fostering international partnerships, expressing hope for continued dialogue and cooperation between the two parliaments.
