PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Jan. 6, 2026) — Commerce Minister Cham Nimul on Tuesday welcomed the renewed expansion of TotalEnergies Marketing Cambodia, praising the company’s long-term investment in the energy sector and its growing role in promoting locally made products.

At a meeting at the Ministry of Commerce, Nimul congratulated Yan Liv, managing director of TotalEnergies Cambodia, on the opening of the company’s new fuel station in Koh Norea. She thanked the firm for maintaining confidence in Cambodia through continuous investment since 1993, noting that its presence has contributed to energy security, job creation and private-sector growth.

Liv briefed the minister on the company’s recent progress, expansion strategy and long-term vision, while commending government efforts to improve the business climate. He said reforms in trade facilitation and investment policy have helped strengthen private-sector confidence and encouraged multinational firms to expand operations in Cambodia.

He also highlighted TotalEnergies’ support for Cambodian brands through Bonjour Mart outlets at its fuel stations nationwide, which provide shelf space for locally produced goods ranging from food and beverages to household items. The initiative, Liv said, reflects the company’s commitment to promoting domestic consumption and supporting small and medium enterprises.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), SMEs account for 98 percent of Cambodia’s economic units, contribute 58 percent of GDP, and provide around 70 percent of total employment — underscoring their role as the backbone of the national economy. Nimul said initiatives like TotalEnergies’ retail support are vital to strengthening this sector, which plays a central role in job creation and resilience.

The commerce minister welcomed the effort and encouraged TotalEnergies to deepen cooperation with the government — particularly the Commerce Ministry — in joint campaigns to promote Khmer products. She said stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors will help stimulate domestic demand, diversify exports and reinforce Cambodia’s broader economic resilience.
