Cambodia, Vietnam to Open New Border Gate as Trade Hits $6.58 Billion
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 2, 2025) — Cambodia and Vietnam will open a new international border gate this week as bilateral trade between the two countries reached $6.58 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, underscoring efforts to deepen economic ties.
The Meun Chey–Tan Nam International Border Gate, located between Cambodia’s Prey Veng province and Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province, will be inaugurated on December 5 in a ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The opening coincides with the 58th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Upgraded over several years from a local trading point into a full international crossing, the site now features new immigration facilities and an Angkor Wat–style gateway spanning nearly 90,000 square meters.
Officials said the new gate will facilitate faster movement of goods, particularly agricultural products, and enhance border connectivity for communities on both sides. Both governments have set a target of raising bilateral trade to $20 billion in the near future, with the crossing expected to play a central role in achieving that goal.
