Cambodia Expands Job Forums, Training to Support Returning Migrant Workers
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 1, 2025) — Cambodia is intensifying efforts to help migrant workers returning from Thailand reintegrate into the domestic workforce, with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training reporting it has organized 577 job forums nationwide as of Nov. 23.
Ministry spokesperson Sun Mesa said the forums have connected thousands of returnees to diverse job opportunities and on-site interviews, while also offering free technical and vocational training to equip workers with market-relevant skills and improve access to better-paying jobs.

To expand support, the ministry will host a Job, Social Security and Skills Training Fair on Dec. 6–7 in Siem Reap’s Soutr Nikom and Puok districts. The event will provide employment opportunities, National Social Security Fund benefits and free vocational training for local residents, particularly those returning from Thailand.
Returnees seeking work are encouraged to contact the 1297 hotline, which operates daily to provide job placement assistance and training information.
The ministry said nearly 600 job forums, border-area reception centers, streamlined employment documentation and the 1297 mechanism reflect the government’s commitment to helping former migrant workers reintegrate quickly and secure stable employment and long-term livelihoods at home.
