Cambodia Brings Nearly 4,000 Job Opportunities to Former Migrant Workers in Battambang and Banteay Meanchey
BATTAMBANG/BANTEAY MEANCHEY, Mar. 16, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has created nearly 4,000 job opportunities for former migrant workers and local residents in Battambang and Banteay Meanchey provinces through job forums and recruitment activities, officials said Sunday.
The Job, Social Security and Vocational Training Forum was held at Phum Thmey Primary School and Bansay Traeng Secondary School in Thma Koul district, Battambang, drawing about 800 participants. Attendees were briefed on employment opportunities, social security benefits and technical training programs.

Lao Him, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and representative of Minister Heng Sour, said the government is committed to expanding employment for returning migrant workers and youth. He noted that the forum offered about 2,750 job openings from seven factories, associations and recruitment agencies, part of a wider initiative to promote more than 80,000 jobs nationwide.
Him stressed that domestic employment provides decent working conditions, fair wages and protection under the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). He also urged young people and former migrant workers to join the government’s “TVET 1.5 Million Program,” which offers free technical training and monthly allowances for poor and vulnerable families.
A similar forum was held the same day in Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey, where four factories and companies conducted on-site recruitment interviews, offering around 1,000 jobs.
The initiative forms part of the ministry’s nationwide campaign under the theme “Khmer Help Find Jobs and Provide Jobs for Khmer,” which organizes weekly employment forums in targeted communities. Officials said the outreach aims to ensure access to local jobs and stable incomes, improving household livelihoods and supporting economic growth.
The ministry encouraged job seekers to contact the National Employment Agency (NEA) for placement support and career guidance.
