Cambodia Strengthens Defence Ties as Tea Seiha Attends Laos’ 50th Republic Anniversary
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 1, 2025) — Cambodia is reinforcing defence diplomacy with Laos as Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen. Tea Seiha attends the 50th anniversary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Vientiane.
Invited by Lao Defence Minister Gen. Khamlieng Outhakaisone, Seiha is leading a high-level Royal Cambodian Armed Forces delegation to the celebration, which marks five decades since the founding of the Lao PDR on Dec. 2, 1975.

Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said the visit reflects both countries’ commitment to unity, friendship and long-term cooperation. Seiha is expected to meet his Lao counterpart to expand bilateral defence collaboration, including border security coordination and military exchanges.
The ministry said the visit reaffirms the nations’ shared goal of preserving peace, stability and sustainable development.
Cambodia and Laos established diplomatic relations in 1956. This year marks 69 years of close bilateral cooperation.
