PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov.11, 2025) — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Takahashi Fumiaki, president of the Japan-Cambodia Association, and a delegation of Japanese business leaders to discuss ongoing and future investment initiatives aimed at supporting Cambodia’s economic and social development.

The meeting, held at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, marked the Association’s fifth visit to Cambodia. The delegation included representatives from 30 Japanese companies, comprising both new and existing members.

Takahashi briefed the prime minister on the Association’s progress since opening its official office in Cambodia in 2024, outlining three key areas of cooperation: human resource development to align Cambodian workforce skills with Japanese standards; agro-processing to support agricultural exports; and digital sector initiatives focused on technology adoption and training.

He also expressed appreciation for the Cambodian government’s investment-friendly policies and continued support.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet commended the Association’s efforts to promote Japanese business engagement and raise awareness of Cambodia’s economic potential.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining favorable conditions for Japanese investment and pledged inter-ministerial cooperation to ensure tangible outcomes.

The prime minister recalled his official visit to Japan in May 2025, during which both sides launched the “Cambodia–Japan Economic Co-Creation Package.” He also encouraged the Association to explore establishing a special economic zone for Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises.
