PARIS, France (Oct.30, 2025) — Cambodian and French parliamentary leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, democratic reform, and multilateral cooperation during a bilateral meeting Wednesday on the sidelines of the Paris Peace Forum.

Samdech Khuon Sudary, President of Cambodia’s National Assembly, met with Hon. Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly, to discuss regional diplomacy, digital governance, and preparations for the 20th Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia will host in 2026.

Both leaders praised the recent Cambodia–Thailand Peace Agreement, signed on Oct. 26 during the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia, as a major step toward restoring stability. “Cambodia is a peace-loving nation,” Sudary said, noting the country’s painful history of conflict and its commitment to peaceful resolution.

Sudary thanked France for its technical support, including border mapping assistance under the Franco-Siamese Treaties of 1904 and 1907. She also highlighted the Digital Parliament Project, backed by France, which is helping modernize Cambodia’s legislature and promote transparency.

Braun-Pivet commended Cambodia’s peace efforts and its leadership in the Francophonie community. She said the French Assembly has formed a working group to support the upcoming summit and stressed the importance of collective cooperation across education, culture, and sustainable development.

Sudary invited Braun-Pivet to lead a delegation to Cambodia to further strengthen bilateral ties.
