PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.23, 2025) — Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen on Wednesday condemned Thai media outlets for what he described as irresponsible coverage of Cambodia’s political affairs, urging them to focus on domestic issues in Thailand instead.

His remarks followed a series of articles in Thailand’s The Nation that speculated on Cambodia’s political trajectory. Hun Sen said Thai journalists should examine their own country’s internal dynamics before commenting on Cambodia.

“I’ve been in power since before some of these Thai journalists were even born or still walking around naked,” he said. “I understand Cambodian politics. Some of these reporters don’t even seem to grasp the state of their own country.”

Samdech Techo said Cambodia’s political direction would become clearer after the government completes four months in office, following the dissolution of parliament and early elections scheduled for 2026.

“We know how to manage our own affairs. There’s no need to twist Thai domestic stories into narratives about Cambodia,” he said.

He concluded with a Khmer proverb: “If you’re going to play, don’t get angry. And if you’re going to get angry, don’t play.”
