Cambodian NA President to Attend Global Women Leaders’ Summit in China
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.08,2025) — Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary will lead a high-level parliamentary delegation to China this weekend to attend the Global Women Leaders’ Summit, scheduled for Oct. 12–15.

The summit, held under the United Nations framework, will convene legislative leaders, senior government officials and global development partners to assess progress since the landmark 1995 Beijing Declaration on gender equality and women’s rights.
This year’s theme, “One Shared Future: Accelerating New Pathways for Women’s Development in All Sectors,” will guide discussions on renewing political commitments to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in line with the U.N.’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Sudary is expected to deliver a keynote address highlighting Cambodia’s achievements in promoting women’s rights and its longstanding political commitment to gender equality. She will emphasize the national motto, “Women are the backbone of social and economic development,” and cite progress made under former Prime Minister Hun Sen and current Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Cambodia, a signatory to the original Beijing Declaration, has worked to increase women’s participation in politics, expand access to education and promote women’s roles in economic development.
On the sidelines of the summit, Sudary is expected to hold bilateral meetings with parliamentary counterparts and leaders of international organizations. Key talks are planned with Zhao Leji, chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee, to strengthen diplomatic ties and cooperation in trade, education, agriculture and tourism.
The visit underscores Cambodia’s continued engagement in multilateral diplomacy and its growing role in regional efforts to promote inclusive development.
