Cambodian Senate President Denies Reports of Thaksin, Yingluck Owning Assets in Cambodia
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Sept.15,2025) — Former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen who is currently senate president has denied reports that former Thai leaders Thaksin Shinawatra and Yingluck Shinawatra own assets or have sources of income in Cambodia.

His statement follows media claims that Thaksin holds assets in the country and that Cambodian authorities are preparing to freeze them.
“I have just seen a news report stating that His Excellency Thaksin owns assets in Cambodia and that Cambodian authorities are preparing to freeze those assets,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen said.
“Although I have had issues with His Excellency Thaksin in the past, I must take responsibility in upholding his integrity and dignity. Neither His Excellency Thaksin nor Madame Yingluck possesses any assets or sources of income in Cambodia,” he added.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that when Thaksin or Yingluck visit Cambodia, they use his personal vehicles — a gesture he said reflects their lack of property or business interests in the country.
“I must further clarify that His Excellency Thaksin and I have never discussed any business ventures for personal or family economic gain,” he said.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged that if the reports originated in Cambodia, they should cease immediately.
“Our nation must preserve its dignity and refrain from fabricating or spreading false and misleading stories,” he said. “If this matter originated from Thailand, it should be left to the Thai authorities to handle.”
