PM Hun Manet congratulates Vietnam’s new prime minister, pledges stronger ties

PHNOM PENH, April 7, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has extended his congratulations to Le Minh Hung on his appointment as Prime Minister of Vietnam, pledging to further strengthen bilateral relations.

In a formal letter, Samdech Thipadei praised the confidence placed in Le Minh Hung by the Communist Party, the State, and the people of Vietnam, saying it reflected his dedication to the country’s development and prosperity.

“Undoubtedly, under your able and visionary leadership, and under the guidance of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam will continue to attain significant achievements in socio-economic development and further enhance its role in regional and international affairs,” Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet wrote.

The Cambodian leader highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two neighbors, emphasizing the importance of good neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term stability.

He expressed eagerness to meet with Le Minh Hung soon to discuss ways to deepen bilateral ties and collaboration within ASEAN and other multilateral frameworks.

Samdech Thipadei concluded his message by wishing his Vietnamese counterpart good health, happiness, and success in his new role.

On April 7, Vietnam’s 16th National Assembly unanimously elected Le Minh Hung as prime minister for the 2026–2031 term, with all 495 legislators voting in favor. He succeeds Pham Minh Chinh, who served from 2021 to 2026.
