PHNOM PENH, April 12, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has reiterated its hope that Thailand will adhere to the agreements reached in the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC), signed on December 27, 2025, between the two kingdoms.

Prime Minister Hun Manet, writing on his official Facebook page, said full implementation of the statement – particularly Point 3 – would allow the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) of both countries to begin work swiftly and sincerely.

“Cambodia hopes that Thailand will continue to adhere to the implementation of the JS agreement, in particular Point #3,” Hun Manet wrote.

Point 3 affirms that all arrangements under the statement are without prejudice to the border demarcation and international boundary. It commits both sides to refer to the JBC to resume, at the earliest, survey and demarcation works in line with existing agreements, aiming for lasting peace along the frontier.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stressed that both sides agreed to use the JBC’s mechanisms to ensure the safety of survey teams, including protection from landmines, and to prioritize immediate demarcation in affected border areas where civilians reside.

“So that we can properly and clearly demarcate the border between both countries in a peaceful manner. This will be the foundation for long-lasting peace that would allow our people living along the shared border to live peacefully. Cambodia is fully ready,” he added.
