HANOI, June 10, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia and Vietnam have pledged to accelerate efforts to resolve the remaining sections of their shared border, with leaders expressing hope that progress will be made over the coming year as part of wider efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.

Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his Vietnamese counterpart Le Minh Hung commended the work of the Joint Border Commission, noting that around 16 percent of border segments remain unsettled.

They vowed continued cooperation to advance demarcation, describing the issue as central to ensuring stability and trust between the two neighbours.

The border talks formed part of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet’s official visit to Vietnam on June 8–9, which also covered trade, investment, defence, connectivity, education and tourism.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a relationship based on good neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation, and agreed to organise commemorative activities in 2027 to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

On security, the two sides pledged deeper cooperation between their armed forces and welcomed collaboration against transnational crime.

Economic discussions highlighted continued growth in bilateral trade, with both countries aiming for a target of $20 billion in the coming years.

They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in information management, including combating misinformation, and to expand scholarship programmes and training opportunities.

The leaders said education, culture, tourism, energy, agriculture and digital economy initiatives would serve as foundations for long‑term friendship and shared prosperity.
