PHNOM PENH, May 12, 2026 (KPT) — Singapore’s newly appointed ambassador Steven Pang Chee Wee has discussed expanding investment in Cambodia’s logistics and halal food processing sectors, which officials say hold strong potential for regional and global markets.

Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also chairs the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), met Chee Wee to review cooperation and investment prospects. The envoy highlighted long‑standing diplomatic ties nurtured since the reign of the late King‑Father Norodom Sihanouk, and reported on visits to Preah Sihanouk province to assess port expansion and logistics infrastructure, as well as to Koh Kong to observe biodiversity tourism projects.

Chee Wee also praised Cambodia’s crackdown on online scams, calling it a global challenge requiring regional coordination. Chanthol outlined socio‑economic plans to boost multimodal transport connectivity and logistics hubs, while thanking Singapore for its support in human capital development through the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship.

Both sides voiced confidence that cooperation in trade, investment and infrastructure will deepen under Chee Wee’s mission.
