PHNOM PENH, June 6, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence announced Saturday that an ASEAN observer team visited a bridge in Pursat Province as part of efforts to monitor the aftermath of last year’s border conflict with Thailand.

In a statement, ministry spokeswoman said the Cambodian Liaison Group facilitated the field mission for the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), led by its Head of Mission under the Philippine chairmanship. The delegation inspected the Steung Me Teuk Bridge in Thmar Da Commune, Veal Veng District.

The ministry said the mission’s purpose was to “observe, verify and report” on conditions at the site.

According to the statement, the bridge was destroyed in an air strike by Thai fighter jets on December 13, 2025. Officials described it as civilian infrastructure located several kilometres from the Cambodia–Thailand border.

Cambodia reiterated its commitment to agreements reached with Thailand following the conflict, including the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement signed on October 26, 2025, and the Joint Statement issued after the Third Special Meeting of the General Border Committee on December 27, 2025.

The ministry said Cambodia remained dedicated to supporting recovery efforts and restoring peace and stability in affected areas.

It added that the information was being released to keep the public and international media informed of developments.
