PHNOM PENH, July 1, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has urged stronger security cooperation between Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, calling for joint efforts to combat transnational crime and reinforce coordination along their shared borders.

Speaking at the Peace Palace on June 30, Samdech Thipadei met Lao Minister of Public Security Vanthong Kongmany and Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang following the second ministerial meeting between Cambodia’s Interior Ministry and the public security ministries of Laos and Vietnam.

The two ministers briefed the prime minister on the outcomes of the talks, reaffirming their commitment to expand cooperation. Samdech Thipadei congratulated them and said the three countries should continue strengthening their longstanding partnership.

Discussions focused on enhancing border security by encouraging provincial authorities to work more closely together to maintain stability and promote frontier areas as zones of peace, friendship and development.

The leaders also highlighted the need for joint action against human trafficking, drug trafficking and cyber‑enabled fraud.

Samdech Thipadei underscored the historic ties among the three neighbours, noting the 70th anniversary of Cambodia–Laos diplomatic relations this year and preparations for the 60th anniversary of Cambodia–Vietnam relations in 2027.

He said closer cooperation among the interior and public security ministries would reinforce broader ties in trade, investment and economic development.

The prime minister also encouraged greater people‑to‑people exchanges, particularly among youth, saying stronger social and cultural links would deepen mutual understanding and friendship between Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
