PHNOM PENH, 20 February 2026 (KPT)–Cambodia’s exports of garments, footwear and travel goods rose 6.76 percent in January 2026 to nearly $1.47 billion, reflecting investor confidence and regional competitiveness, official data showed.

According to the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE), garment exports reached about $1 billion, up 6.76 percent from a year earlier. Footwear exports climbed 16.88 percent to $196 million, while travel goods rose more than 1 percent to $188 million. Textile exports surged 35.58 percent to nearly $72 million.

Kang Monika, deputy secretary-general of the Textile, Apparel, Footwear and Travel Goods Association of Cambodia (TAFTAC), told local media that growth was driven by a stable investment climate and Cambodia’s ability to maintain competitiveness, which attracted new factories in 2025.

He added that rising demand in major markets, supply chain diversification, reduced reliance on China, capacity limits in Vietnam and political risks in Myanmar had boosted Cambodia’s textile exports.

The garment, footwear and travel goods sector contributes about 50 percent of Cambodia’s total exports, which exceeded $31 billion in 2025.

Commerce Ministry spokesman Penn Sovicheat said the United States remains a key market for Cambodian exports. He stressed that the growth reflects Cambodia’s ability to retain major buyers and sustain confidence in its supply and value chains.

By the end of 2025, the number of registered factories and enterprises had risen to 46,649, employing more than 2.14 million workers, according to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.
