PHNOM PENH, Jan 23, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia earned US$15.5 billion from exports of garments, footwear and travel goods in 2025, up 15.7 percent from the previous year, reflecting a stable investment climate and sustained regional competitiveness, the Ministry of Commerce said Friday.

Garment exports reached US$11.4 billion, rising 16.5 percent, footwear exports totaled US$2.09 billion, up 24.5 percent, while travel goods brought in US$2.02 billion, an increase of nearly 4 percent.

Fa Saly, president of the National Trade Union Confederation, said exports surged despite investor concerns over U.S. tariff measures announced by President Donald Trump and border tensions with Thailand. He noted that instability in other garment-producing countries such as Myanmar and Bangladesh had benefited Cambodia’s industry.

Kang Monika, deputy secretary-general of the Textile, Apparel, Footwear and Travel Goods Association of Cambodia (TAFTAC), said new factories opened in 2025, supported by strong demand in major markets and diversification of supply chains away from China.

The sector contributed about 50 percent of Cambodia’s total exports, which exceeded US$31 billion last year.

Commerce Ministry spokesman Penn Sovicheat said the United States remains a key market, adding that the growth reflects Cambodia’s ability to maintain global buyers’ confidence and strengthen its role in international supply chains.

By the end of 2025, registered enterprises rose to 46,649, employing more than 2.14 million workers, according to the Ministry of Labour.
