Cambodia Mobilizes Hotel Sector Ahead of 2026 Francophonie Summit
PHNOM PENH, Jan 23, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia is mobilizing its hotel industry to prepare for the 20th Francophonie Summit in November, with the Ministry of Tourism and the Cambodia Hotel Association (CHA) pledging closer cooperation to ensure high standards for thousands of delegates and media expected to attend.
Tourism Minister Huot Hak on Thursday met CHA leaders and members to strengthen collaboration and identify measures to sustain resilience and competitiveness. The meeting gathered CHA National President Hy Sothea, senior ministry officials, private sector representatives and around 100 participants.

Hak stressed the summit’s importance, saying it will draw world leaders and international journalists, and urged hotel operators to be fully prepared to deliver warm hospitality. He said the event will boost Cambodia’s global image, particularly in tourism, accommodation and food services.
The minister also called on CHA to strengthen internal capacity, improve organizational structures, enhance training and establish monitoring systems. He encouraged the association to finalize its 2026 Annual Action Plan to ensure effective implementation.
Officials underscored that close public–private cooperation will be key to upgrading service quality and promoting Cambodia’s destinations ahead of the high-level summit.
