PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Nov. 17, 2025) — Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism announced Monday it will host the 4th National Ecotourism Forum later this month in Siem Reap, bringing together government agencies, private sector partners, NGOs and community representatives to discuss strategies for sustainable tourism development.

The forum, scheduled for Nov. 24–25 at the Sokha Siem Reap Hotel, will serve as a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, review achievements, and propose solutions for strengthening community-based and ecotourism initiatives. An exhibition showcasing community tourism and ecotourism projects will also be held alongside the event.

The announcement comes as Cambodia’s tourism sector faces challenges. According to data from ministry of tourism, the country welcomed about 4.3 million international visitors in the first nine months of 2025, an 8.8 percent decline compared to the same period last year. Thai nationals topped arrivals with more than 970,000 visits, though their numbers fell sharply by 35.9 percent. Vietnamese tourists followed with over 900,000, down nearly 7 percent, while Chinese arrivals surged 46.3 percent to 880,000.

Officials said the forum underscores Cambodia’s commitment to promoting ecotourism as a driver of sustainable growth, even as the industry navigates regional tensions and shifting travel patterns. The Ministry of Tourism urged associations, operators, and development partners to participate in the event and contribute to shaping the future of Cambodia’s tourism sector.
