Cambodia Reprioritizes Logistics System to Attract Investment and Boost Job Creation

PHNOM PENH, April 7, 2026 (KPT) – Authorities are reprioritizing Cambodia’s Comprehensive Master Plan on Intermodal Transport and Logistics System 2023–2033 to better align with current economic conditions, aiming to attract investment and create jobs, officials said Tuesday.

The move was announced at the 10th National Logistics Council meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol. Public Works and Transport Minister Peng Ponea and representatives from ministries, institutions and the private sector also attended.

Officials reviewed reports on the World Bank-supported Logistics Dashboard, progress on the master plan, updates on a draft logistics law and developments on the Sihanoukville Logistics Complex project. The plan outlines 174 projects requiring an estimated $36 billion in investment to strengthen infrastructure and improve connectivity.

Chanthol emphasized enhancing the Logistics Dashboard to capture comprehensive data and key performance indicators, enabling better decision-making. He also underscored the urgency of establishing a robust logistics law and called for private sector input to ensure inclusiveness.

The reprioritization reflects Cambodia’s broader strategy to modernize logistics, improve efficiency and strengthen its role as a competitive regional trade and investment hub.
