OSAKA, June 15, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia highlighted political stability, infrastructure modernization and logistics reforms while urging direct dialogue with Japanese companies as it sought to strengthen economic ties during the Cambodia Investment Forum in Osaka, officials said Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol told representatives from around 80 leading Japanese firms that Cambodia remains committed to a predictable investment environment, peaceful resolution of border issues through international law, and eliminating online scams to boost investor confidence.

The forum, themed “Opportunities in Sustainability and Strategy,” was jointly organized by the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the ASEAN‑Japan Centre, the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and JETRO.

Chanthol, also first vice president of the CDC, outlined plans to build an integrated infrastructure network and modern logistics system to support long‑term growth and attract higher‑quality foreign investment. He stressed that direct dialogue with Japanese businesses would help align Cambodia’s reforms with investor needs.

Panel discussions spotlighted opportunities in food and agro‑processing and the development of special economic zones in Kampong Thom province, underscoring prospects in sustainable manufacturing, agribusiness and regional infrastructure.

Participants included senior Cambodian officials, private sector representatives and Japanese business leaders, reflecting growing interest in Cambodia as an investment destination. Organizers said the forum demonstrated rising confidence among Japanese businesses and marked another step in strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation through environmentally responsible growth.
