SIEM REAP, June 22, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia is positioning its “Green Season” campaign as a national tourism strategy to showcase the country’s cultural heritage and natural beauty while reshaping perceptions of the traditional low season, officials said Sunday.

Tourism Minister Huot Hak presided over the 2026 Green Season Tourism Talk in Siem Reap, stressing that the May‑to‑October period should be seen as a time when Cambodia is at its most vibrant, with lush landscapes and flourishing ecosystems.

“The transformation from ‘Low Season’ to ‘Green Season’ is not merely a change in terminology; it represents a shift in perspective and a forward‑looking national strategy,” Hak said.

The campaign, launched May 2 under Prime Minister Hun Manet’s guidance, will be rolled out nationwide, highlighting attractions in coastal provinces, northeastern Cambodia and Phnom Penh. Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen Cambodia’s image as a safe and welcoming destination, encourage year‑round travel and support local communities.

Cambodia has recently boosted its international profile by hosting major global events, including the World Conference of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in Siem Reap.
