PHNOM PENH, June 7, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia is harnessing digital innovation to strengthen its tourism sector with the launch of a new Tourism Augmented Reality (AR) app, designed to enhance visitor experiences and promote the Kingdom’s attractions during the green season, officials said Friday.

The initiative was unveiled at the “Green Season Networking and Launch of the Tourism Augmented Reality App” program, presided over by Tourism Minister Huot Hak.

The event drew senior representatives from ministries, government institutions, diplomatic missions, business associations, and investors, including Shaharuddin Onn, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Cambodia, and Eric Lim, CEO of Advantage by Universal Alliance.

Minister Hak said the program provided an important platform to deepen collaboration among tourism stakeholders at home and abroad. He praised the developers of the AR app, calling it “an innovative tool to showcase Cambodia’s destinations to the international market.”

Hak stressed that the project aligns with the Royal Government’s vision to advance digital transformation and build a modern, resilient, and competitive tourism industry.

The launch coincided with the Green Season Tourism and Travel Exhibition, Family Chefs Competition, and Made in Cambodia Exhibition, which highlighted the country’s tourism potential, travel services, locally made products, and culinary heritage.

Hak expressed confidence the initiative would spur investment, knowledge exchange, and business partnerships, while encouraging greater domestic travel during the green season.

He also noted the sector’s continued momentum, revealing that Cambodia welcomed more than 1.3 million international tourists in the first four months of 2026 — a figure he said reflects the resilience and growing appeal of the Kingdom’s cultural heritage, natural beauty, hospitality, and cuisine.
